Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments

Dermal fillers and anti-wrinkle treatments are minimally-invasive cosmetic injectable treatments that are performed by our trained dentists to create the desired result in the appearance of the patient.

There is a level of confusion between the two treatments, as they’re both injectables and deal with cosmetic issues, but there is a difference between the two that we’ve laid out for you in this article.

Initially the first treatment for fillers requires 2-3 appointments 1 month apart to achieve the optimum look, thereafter, a top up is needed 1-2 times a year.

Skin loses its elasticity with age causing more wrinkles, and gravity also helps to make the skin sag.

It is one versatile treatment. It can be used to generally plump the face to restore volume but also for lips, cheeks, the lines either side of the nose and mouth (bunny lines), smokers lines, the crease between your eyebrows, and more.

With injectables, less is more, and you may feel after your first visit that nothing much has changed. To us, this is a good approach, as doing too much upfront can lead to unsatisfactory results.

The main reason Dr Suzanne started to use it was for relaxing the muscles of the face that relate to TMJ / facial pain and grinding of the teeth. Patients report a HUGE improvement in facial pain and jaw pain, and improved sleep and less headaches. This meant the pressure on the teeth was massively reduced helping to prevent cracked or worn teeth.

Other areas it can be used on are the forehead, crows feet, the line between your eyebrows, nose wrinkles or ‘bunny’ lines, and smokers lines.

Your first treatment will need a top up after 2 weeks to determine your optimum dose, as everyone is different. It will normally last 2-4 months before needing a top up.
