You are never fully dressed without your smile, so get dressed! With cosmetic dentistry we can help you achieve a smile that you didn’t think possible! It could be as simple as fixing a small chip, to changing your whole smile with veneers or crowns.
Veneers - consider these as false nails for your teeth, and crowns - consider these as crash helmets.
CROWNS AND BRIDGES
Crowns are little pieces of magic and are custom made exclusively for your own tooth in our dental lab. A full crown is a 360-degree coverage for your tooth (Crowns can also be partial).
WHY DO I NEED A CROWN?
You will have been advised on a crown to protect your tooth, due to its superior strength. If a tooth has badly cracked, fractured or has had a root canal treatment then it will need a crown to prevent further breakdown. If well looked after, you can expect to get around 15 years of life from your crown.
A bridge is custom a lab-made restoration, basically two porcelain crowns linked together by a false porcelain tooth. Is it needed when a tooth is lost and the bridge is cemented onto the two neighbouring teeth. The process for making a bridge is the same as for crowns. Read on.
HOW MANY APPOINTMENTS DOES IT TAKE?
Just two appointments are needed. The first one is for the tooth preparation appointment. Here, an impression is taken of the tooth and sent to the lab for your custom crown (or bridge) to be made. In the meantime, you will leave with a high-quality temporary crown that fits onto your prepared tooth. Normally between 10 to 14 days later, you will return for the fitting of your permanent crown. It is cemented on with a strong glue, and that's it!
WHAT TO EXPECT
You can expect to have some sensitivity for a few days with your new crown, that is normal, thereafter treat it as your own tooth. Eat well, brush twice daily and floss as normal.
You may request crowns or even veneers yourself to improve the appearance of your teeth.
Maybe you have had a sports accident and badly damaged your front tooth? Or you hate the gaps between your teeth, or you simply don't like the shape and colour of your teeth.
Yes, crowns or veneers can fix all of these cosmetic issues.
Veneers are very light-weight and fit over the front of your teeth. They can correct the smallest of imperfections.
Just like the crowns, two appointments are needed. We highly recommend attending for your regular dental check and cleans especially when you have had crowns, bridges or veneers, so we can help ensure these last you well beyond their years.
