Little people are very important people at BFD and so are their teeth. We make the 6 monthly visit fun so your little ones know that visiting the dentist is cool. We teach your kids about how to care for their teeth and show them what too many lollies can do! Prevention is always better than a cure.
For the sporty kids, we can make a mouthguard in your own team colours!
YOUR CHILD'S FIRST VISIT
Of course, this can be a daunting experience for both child and parent, and that's why we attire to meeting our little friends when they are young, even as young as one year old. This is more to build a relationship with them so they recognise a familiar face when it is time to have their own check up. This could take several visits...and that is FINE!
It is good to come in when mum and dad or an older sibling is having their check, simply to observe.
A little ride in the chair is a great introduction for their first visit. Of course, then there's the difficult decision on which sticker to choose from afterwards!
Once in the chair, they will have a dental examination along with a gentle clean and polish. Of course, if the little one is cleaning well at home then they may not need this. We also will give you some great diet advice, brushing tips, and even some tooth-friendly lunchbox ideas.
Suzanne will also do an orthodontic check with each child. She is trained to spot issues with the teeth and bite early on, as we can treat with early orthodontics (Interceptive Orthodontics), to help eliminate or reduce future braces in adolescents.

As with everything with kids, starting young is key to instilling good dental habits, even if you admit to not having good dental habits yourself! It is never too late for you too though! Kids know no different if a good routine and role model is implemented at an early age. You will then have saved them from ongoing pain, costs and lengthy dental work for the rest of their life.
Did you know?...
....in the UK the first survey of 3-year-olds was completed in 2014 and found that 12% had visible tooth decay, with an average of 3 teeth affected!
